Singhik, a charming hamlet town in the northern region of Sikkim, is perched just 4 kilometres away from Mangan on the North Sikkim Highway. LABRANG MONASTERY
Following the traditions of the Nyingmapa School of Tibetan Buddhism, this ancient monastery was built in 1814 to pay homage to Latsun Chembo of Kongpu in Tibet. Latsun Chembo of Kongpu was renowned for establishing a Buddhist school in Sikkim. There is another monastery known as the Phadong Monastery, which attracts tourists in large numbers.
SHINGBA RHODODENDRON SANCTUARY
Spread over an area of nearly 43 sq. km; the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary is situated in the northern region of Lachung Valley. The sanctuary, nestled amid snow-capped mountains, is known to house more than 40 different types of rhododendron bushes. Trees such as primulas, saxifrages, and aconites can also be found here. The sanctuary is also home to a few rare species of animals, including the spotted linsang, also known as the tiger-civet.
