Tashi Tenka Monastery:

Once the royal palace complex on a southern ridge, Tashi Tenka now offers mesmerizing views of the surroundings. You can spot the Rabdentse Monastery to the left of Pemayangtse Monastery in the south. Towards the north, the smooth Rathong Valley flows between the lofty spiked mountains. An ideal road to Tashiding and the picturesque forested hills can be seen to the east, while the west provides a stunning view of Khecheopalri.

Dubdi Monastery:

Also known as Yuksom Monastery, Dubdi Monastery is a sacred Buddhist place belonging to the Nyingma sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Established in 1701 during the rule of Chogyal Namgyal, it is one of the oldest monasteries in Sikkim. The name 'Dubdi' means 'the retreat,' aptly represented by its mesmerizing setting amidst dense chestnut forests. A walk to this place acquaints you with nature's wonderland adorned with tall trees and an exquisite stone pathway leading to breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains and distant valleys.

Khangchendzonga National Park:

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Khangchendzonga National Park covers an area of 1784 sq km and offers astounding wildlife sightings. Rare species such as Red Panda, Snow Leopard, Great Tibetan Sheep, Bharal, Musk deer, and more can be spotted here. Bird species include Black-necked Crane, Gray Peacock Pheasant, and Himalayan Monal Pheasant. It boasts glaciers, including the famous Zemu Glacier, and around 19 Himalayan mountain peaks, among which Mount Khangchendzonga stands prominently.

The Coronation Throne of Norbugang:

The first Chogyal king, Phuntsog Namgyal, did his coronation on this site in 1642. A wall-like structure, Norbugang Chorten, marks the original spot, believed to conceal hidden treasures offered during the ceremony. Visitors can witness the royal artifacts used in the coronation. Impressive footprints of one of the three lamas can also be found on a stone nearby, surrounded by a beautiful garden of indigenous trees and plants.

Kartok Monastery:

Situated in the picturesque town of Yuksom, Kartok Monastery is one of the three significant monasteries in the area, alongside Dubdi Monastery and Ngadak Chorling Monastery. Kartok Monastery features a smooth red structure adorned with golden-yellow motifs and Tibetan architecture. Named after a Lama who played a significant role in the coronation ceremony of the first queen of Sikkim, Kartok Monastery is a prominent destination in Yuksom, exuding peace and serenity.
